Digestive enzymes: pros and cons?

I have been using digestive enzymes - a general product from the local health food store that helps whenever i eat gassy foods like beans & lentils - it is wonderful and makes eating these browns very easy for me.

I'd like to better understand how to choose which enzyme products are good. I see that the RR store carries 2 options. Are there any downsides to using enzymes? I started using enzymes on a word-of-mouth suggestion and would like to get more educated.
