Our stories, our wisdom

Dear Kathleen,

I was deeply moved by this week's newsletter. In contrast to the person who decided to unsubscribe from it - which is their right, of course! - I really enjoy learning about your life. Life is not objective. We like to think it is, but life is a collection of subjective moments and sharing is a strength. I felt like I was walking beside you during your time with Barney. I wept together with you, too. In German we say "Shared happiness is double happiness and shared pain is half the pain". There is truth to that saying.

Everyone's wisdom here on the forum enlightens me and motivates me to pursue my recovery further. Will we ever be done? No. Will we keep inching forward? Yes! Connection is key to the process. We can heal by ourselves, but never in isolation.

Please keep doing what you feel is right in your heart. Some people won't want to hear it. That is their right and privilege as individuals. You cannot please everyone, nor should you. Some people will want to hear, some people will filter out what they want to hear. And it's all good, as always. Even the people who no longer receive the newsletter might keep reading the books, talking about the program, doing the food.

You touch many lives, including mine.

Warmly,
Verena
