Hi Kari,
I can empathize. I have a million dollar cat -- I told our husband-and-wife vet team that my cat is paying off their mortgage 5 years early
When did you eat breakfast? I wonder if by 11:30 your blood sugar wasn't dropping a bit anyway, and the reaction to the call might have been part reaction, part the beginnings of hunger.
If not, then can you have a plan for dealing with "hunger" that's not really hunger? I used to first drink a glass of water, then get up from my desk and find a reason to take a quick walk around the building (NOT in the direction of the vending machine ). I used to keep a protein-and-brown snack handy, too.
Hope your dog is feeling better soon!

: After a solid on time breakfast I
: have felt amazing all morning.
: Focused and heads down working.
: Then at 11:30 AM I get a call from
: my vet with not such good news -
: not totally bad but not news I was
: expecting. More meds for my older
: dog (has a bladder infection that
: will not clear up) and more money
: out of my pocket - He has become
: my million dollar dog I swear.
: Immediately after the call I
: headed to the vending machine to
: get chips. I did not feel too
: stressed out over the conversation
: but deep down inside it must have
: really bothered me. It was really
: eye opening for me.
: How could I have handled this in a
: more healthy way instead of
: turning to comfort food?
: Kari
