Hi Allison,
I make it a point to get up as soon as the clock rings in order to take my thyroid pill - even before I brush my teeth! Just swish some water around in my mouth, then take my pill, then brush and continue my morning.
So getting up and taking my medication are really done "on the dot".
That said, occasionally, there are mornings when getting up is more difficult (because of a particularly late bedtime the previous night, or whatever). I wonder if taking a pill and then staying in bed a bit longer is ok. I know there are meds after which you must not lie down, you must be upright. I don't know about thyroid pills. That's another thing to ask my Dr.
Setting a timer for breakfast.........hmmmm..........that's one I hadn't thought about
So let me think a bit...
