Hi Dodi,

Thanks so much for your supportive message :)

I liked your advice and I'll do my very best to follow it so I can do this program properly, instead of "jumping the gun" like I usually do with stuff I'm excited about! I've been sooo encouraged by all the testimonials I've read by people who have had success with the program - I long to be one of those people. I've longed to be "normal" for pretty much my whole life! So it's quite hard to just focus on doing one thing at a time, but I know it's important so I will do it!

I have done my first breakfast - though I had to try and just put stuff together from what we have in our cupboards, as we are due to go grocery shopping. I had two slices of rye bread with peanut butter, and followed it up with 1 and a half glasses of trim milk (I know it's a bit of a weird breakfast, but I chose to have the milk so I could get the full amount of protein I need - which is 20 grams). I also had it 15 minutes after I woke up, so that was good :)

I think breakfasts will be easy for me as I have always eaten breakfast (except for a couple of brief periods during my life where for some reason I went off breakfast). I was surprised to read that most sugar-sensitive people hate the thought of breakfast, because I've never really had a problem with it. Interesting.

Anyway, thank you again! :)

: Hi Chelsea, welcome! So glad you're
: here.

: I'm not a New Zealander, so I can't
: help you sort out finding some of
: the stuff we talk about eating.
: But I'm sure you'll find lots of
: suggestions along the way.

: Since you haven't gotten to reading
: about the steps, I'll tell you
: that reducing sugar doesn't come
: until Step 6. We concentrate on
: adding good stuff in (protein,
: browns, then eventually vitamins
: and potato) to support our bodies
: before thinking of taking stuff
: out. Otherwise, you'll be
: white-knuckling it and your brain
: chemistry won't have had a chance
: to heal and to support a long-term
: change in how you eat. Without all
: the steps in place, it'll continue
: to be a struggle to fight against
: your body's make up.

: When you do get to the steps
: chapters, I'd personally recommend
: reading just Step 1 and then
: starting that step and giving it
: all you've got, before reading on.
: Do not even think of the later
: steps until Step 1 is mastered.
: We'd love to talk to you about
: breakfast!

: Another thing, IMHO, sugar-free
: options are worse than actual
: sugar. They are so chemically
: processed and I think just as
: addictive (if not more so).
: They'll also keep your body
: craving sweets. I know people who
: use them to get themselves off of
: sugar, but this program is about
: healing our bodies, not just
: avoiding sugar. I think the
: program will really help with both
: your depression and your anxiety,
: if you are willing to give it the
: time it needs to work on your
: brain.

: Let us know how your breakfasts are
: going!
