Hi Lori
I had really volatile blood sugar before starting this program. Although it didn't actually get into the hypoglycemic range, it would fall really fast. I spent my whole day going from one crash to the next. Once I started eating adequate protein and whole grains, it got steadier. Many, many of us have blood sugar issues.

: I am amazed about the book Potatoes
: not Prozac and it describes much
: of my reactions to sugar. I am
: only 32 but have suffered from
: sugar sensitivity since I was very
: young girl, so it must have a
: genetic component. Along the 20+
: years of misery I thought I had
: depression and bipolar disorder
: and had terrible choces of high
: sugar foods . I've since learned
: it was sugar sensitivity. I have a
: few questions as I make further
: connections.

: Can this sugar sensitivity be the
: cause of my reactive hypoglycemia?
: My thought is that the sugar
: sensitivity over the 2 decades has
: made my sugars react to high and
: drop very fast (my blood glucose
: will drop 100 mg/dl in a half an
: hour to hypoglycemia levels). The
: OGTT test showed a normal fasting
: insulin, a weak insulin 1 response
: and an over-reactive 2nd insulin
: phase).

: Can this sugar sensitivity be the
: cause of my pcos (polycystic
: ovarian syndrome)? I can actually
: feel the insulin response affect
: my ovaries when I eat any carbs.
: My thought is, is that my insulin
: receptors on my ovaries are being
: affected by my over reactive
: insulin.

: Thanks to any info you have
