By qualified people I just mean people you find to be kind, decent and worth the investment of your heart. There is a quote I really like about how you can be fearless about closing doors because new doors will inevitably open themselves. Of course, you might get some traction with this person by trying to make it work, but I am more inclined to agree with the other poster that you should respect their wishes whether you have turned over a new leaf or not. Some things just arent meant to be and the things you've learned and developments you've come through have probably shaped you into someone worth more than that relationship can offer. I like to think the things that are dust, became dust for a reason. I'd leave it under your feet and expect new things. My 2 c.
As I understand it, a problem is a problem. WHen sugar is involved it complicates things but I don't believe recovery magically erases dilemmas like these. You just have to make a choice and if you're in recovery, the choice will be made from a clearer mind and frame of reference... and so it will likely be a better choice.
