Re: 1 step forward, 1 step back

Like I said, I think my mind is a little warped. I agree with all you said. But for so long I had my eye on the sweets and thought that limiting the "bad" foods allowed me more sweets and so after a while I got used to labeling certain food as bad But not so, I know. And it feels good to read what you eat and that you are healthy. My deeper brain and gut know this food is healthy. It is the warped side that I am working on and allowing myself to eat it and not be guilty. This morning I had real sausage and eggs. Very tasty. No guilt. And Friday I had steak. Delicious, no guilt. So I think I can get over the warping if I just continue to eat regular food and you know what? When I eat the regular food, I do not overdo it. Because by the time I am done eating there is no craving the sweet stuff. I am done. So the amount of food I eat is actually becoming normal. I am not filling up with "health food" then hitting the dessert thinking I can have 2 pieces of pie because I ate "healthy." Oh my.

: Sugar and trans fats are way more apt
: to clog your arteries than eggs,
: so the piece of cake is more
: likely to clog your arteries than
: eggs. I only have eggs on
: weekends, but on the weekends I
: have 3 egg omelets with ham and
: cheese, and I used to have a hard
: boiled egg every day, and my
: cholesterol has always been low.
: We have had people doing the
: program who added eggs into their
: diet, and had all their numbers go
: down from before the program as
: they eliminated sugar.

: I also eat meat for 2 of my daily
: meals, and I am very healthy. We
: eat a lot of chicken and turkey.
: We also eat lean pork, and
: occasionally we have beef or
: buffalo (which is nice and lean,
: but more expensive than beef). We
: use reduced fat cheese in recipes,
: and save the full fat cheese for a
: treat.

: You could also get free range chicken
: or grass fed beef if that makes
: you feel more comfortable with
: meat, although that will cost
: more.

: It may be that after you feel better,
: shake won't feel so overwhelming
: any more. I know I can't eat as
: much sometimes when I am sick. In
: those cases, I make sure I get in
: some protein and a brown, and then
: eat whatever vegetable I can
: handle. When I'm really sick,
: chicken soup is a good way to get
: in all three - we add potato or
: brown rice to our chicken soup,
: along with carrots, mushrooms and
: zucchini.
