: Hi Angela,
: I can definitely relate to your
: story. During my slow start on the
: program, I would ask my husband to
: support me in it, but he was so
: skeptical. He had seen me break my
: promises so many other times in
: the past (on things that I said
: would "fix" me and
: "make me happy"), he
: just said "I'll know you're
: serious when I see you do
: it". Well, that hurt. But in
: a way I knew it was true. I had to
: stop talking about it and just do
: it. But that doesn't mean go all
: the way, right away. You can only
: take one step at a time. And even
: within those steps, take one
: nano-step at a time.
: And I also had to realize that a
: non-SS person will just never
: understand what addiction means.
: They can't seem to fathom that
: it's not about will power, it's
: not as easy as waking up one day
: and deciding you're just going to
: say "no" to the
: substance.
: I hope that you can find your easiest
: nano-step to start working on, and
: just let that be enough for now.
: We can help you trouble-shoot your
: road blocks, or you might find one
: of the Step lists helpful. I also
: hope that you and your husband can
: come to an understanding about
: what healing means. My husband
: still does not accept all the
: theories behind what I'm doing or
: even how slowly I'm going, but
: he's noticed differences in me so
: he's starting to have faith and to
: trust that I know what I'm doing.
: It took a while for me, but I
: finally trust what I'm doing, too.
:
Dodi,
I think his saying, I will believe it when it happens, is actually very appropriate
it is we who are sugar sensitives that say, WHAT!!! you don't trust me!!!!!!!!!!!
It is sort of funny, isn't it..since the evidence from prior experience suggests a high not working rate
The nice thing is that the program works, and the evidence is so unrefutable, they all come around.
