March 17, 2014 Hi {!firstname_fix} My amaryllis is stretching to the sky. I have no idea how it is getting bigger and bigger. Seems like a miracle. For those of you who have been attending chat, we have been talking about how freeze-driedfoods can make doing the program easier. Terri W has been doing the food for years and years, and a while ago she decided to start her own business as a representative for a wonderful company who makes freeze-dried foods. These were originally developed for support to those who believe in having a year's worth of food stores on hand. Terri invited me to a taste test one evening when I was driving through her town on my way from San francisco to Albuquerque. The food is delicious. If you are gluten free, they have options. I love the fruits and veggies, though apricots taste nasty in shake, LOL. The butter powder is really fun and the sausage crumbles are fabulous - I used them in the gluten free sausage muffins that I posted on the Radiant Recovery® Facebook page. What I did to start was order the small size of the things I wanted to try. It was fun getting the containers and then going through them. Of course my dogs fell in love with the idea and thought I had made the order for them - especially Ronan who is Mr. Butter boy. Terri and I talked for months about how to bring these products here to the community and finally came up with the idea of my simply making a referral over to her. I love supporting her growth and her business, just as I have loved supporting Selena Sews. Your businesses are a joy for all of us. Here is a button to Terri's *store*..I will add it to our store as well. If you shop through us, I get a credit in my *queue* - you can go see how that means I can grow my stock of butter, LOL. Let me know if you try it. I will be interested to hear what you think. This class will begin Wednesday, March 19, 2014. **Testimonial of the Week ** Last evening we had a big thunderstorm and half an inch of rain. We are in a moderate drought so the storm was a blessing. This morning the dogs and I were taking our morning walk. It was gorgeous out there, the rain was shining off everything in the woods, all the leaves on the trees, the ferns, the flowers, just everything, even shining in the mist when a ray of sun shot through the darkness of the woods. I have Border Collies and a toy poodle. It is nice to walk with the bc's because they just goof around, they aren't hunting dogs, so they don't really use their eyes or nose to look for critters. My poodle caught a scent and reacted just enough to get my attention, but no one else's. I looked up and over where she was looking (by then she was off on something else). That ray of sun was shining off everything.....and as I looked I saw a red gold color...I looked harder and in the wet sunshine and the mist I could finally make out the shape of a doe deer. She was standing so stock still that she looked like a tree. I would never have seen her had I not been really looking. Right away I thought of the yoga tree pose. She gave me a yoga lesson I will always remember when I do that pose. Even I could "feel" the roots she was putting down into the earth to steady her body and breathing and make her invisible to danger. It was just one of those moments in life where as a part of universe I felt so tiny and blessed. Then I thought what a gift this program has given me. In the pre-RR days I would never have had this morning. First of all, I would never have been out there. The reason is because today was a super busy day for me. I had to be ready to leave for the day by 9:00 am. I am usually home all the time and rarely gone anywhere for a whole day. I had to get up, get my breakfast, walk the dogs, pack my lunch and potluck contribution, do all my chores, shower and dress all before 9:00! In the old days, just the idea of doing that would have stressed me out so much I probably wouldn't have gone. But today, I had decided yesterday what I would wear, eat, and had a list of things I had to have done before I left. I promised myself I would not turn on the computer until I came home. I was so well prepared that I didn't get anxious or stressed or angry. AND one of the first things I would have done in the old days was to not take time for a walk because I would have been too busy getting ready. So, not only did I get my walk, but I got a special blessing. Then, after I got back from the walk, my niece called me and needed some help in making a decision that was very serious. I had time because of my planning yesterday to spend 15 minutes on the phone LISTENING to her, not telling her what I thought she should do! Oh, it was just such a special morning, I am so grateful. Talk about BE raisers--first the deer and then the dear (my niece)! Plus I had a wonderful time at my day outing! Yep, this program is soooo much more than removing sugar! Cause I haven't even done that yet! Thank you all for helping me to have this wonderful life. Carol **********************************************************************
**Radiant Ambassadors ** Amazon. The go-to place for book reviews, right? So I decided to go have a look at the book reviews for Potatoes not Prozac on both the US and UK site recently. If you're not familiar with the reviews, you can give a book up to five stars and then add your comments. And guess how many stars Potatoes not Prozac has? 4.5 out of 5 stars on BOTH sites!! That is pretty amazing, isn't it?! But then again we know what a fabulous book it is, don't we? Here are a couple of the comments... "...I feel as if I have gained answers to questions I dared not ask" "...a cutesy name for a wonderful book that will help millions of people heal their bodies and their lives" Wow!!! Do feel free to add your own review of Kathleen's books :)

**How I Found Radiant Recovery ** Hi, My name is Carolyn. I found PnP in the library about a month ago. I felt it was like the light bulb going on. I always knew there was a chemical connection somehow. It was great to finally have some understanding of what's going on in my body. I've been trying to get off sugar for a long time. I don't buy it or keep it in my house but I always get tripped up when out with friends or at social events. i do okay when I am at home. i would say I'm on step 2 because I haven't mastered the journaling thing. I just can't get into it. I am new to online community so am interested to see if this resource will be of help. Thanks and Hi to everyone. **********************************************************************
** Radiant Recovery® Store ** David manages the Radiant Recovery® Store. He is also Kathleen's oldest son. We are excited to offer you a special this week. If you order 2 bottles of CM Response capsules, we can send you a FREE tube of CM Response Joint Action cream. Both contain cetyl meristoliate and glucosamine with some additional natural products that help maintain the synovial fluid that lubricates the joints. And of course if you have a doggie that is older and arthritic or with hip dysphasia, we have doggie Cetyl too. The dog formulation was what got Kathleen started on this company many years ago. Watch the film on Jap that she saw at the National Golden Retriever show and convinced her to try it with Ronan. He has been taking it ever since. And it turned my own dog, Pippin, from being barely able to walk to acting like a pup. Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better. **********************************************************************

**Our Online Groups ** Have you been sitting on the couch a lot, suffering from being inside too much, and thinking about a wee bit of movement? We would love to have you join us in exploring new ways of moving on the Movement List. Even if you can only walk to the end of the driveway, you are welcome. We have a new team to support you and we are planning LOTS of fun. The Movement list is for people who want to start moving again and to baby step into a regular exercise program. If you can remember how much fun it was to move when you were a child and you've lost that, the Movement list is the perfect place for you. And, if you don't remember, we'll help you rediscover it. There are some wonderful people on the list who will share their stories and help you explore different options to form a movement plan that works for you.. We are enthusiastic about our own exercise, but we also understand first hand how hard it was to start and to baby step into regular movement. It's a great list; come join us. **********************************************************************
**Problem Solving for Sugar-Sensitive Dilemmas ** Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.
People often ask me how they can sort something out. You say, “Kathleen, I just can’t figure out what to do.” Often you are desperate and feel that you have to know NOW. Well, first of all, the haziness, that sort of fog and cloudy sense of not knowing, is often induced by what you are eating, or by when you are eating. Skip a meal and get dumb. Have sugar and whites, and get foggy and not be able to make sense of anything. These are the times when you push forward trying to find answers and you feel as if you are pushing into cotton. Nothing comes, even if you wrestle for hours. The first way out, of course, is doing the steps. I know you thought that doing the food would just deal with cravings and your weight, and maybe mood. But there is a huge payoff...you get clarity as well. The fog lifts. Things make sense. Answers come unbidden without thrashing. But let’s say you have a problem now. You can’t wait for step 7. You need some practical skills today. So let’s do some of those. Usually, sugar-sensitive people munch – this means you say, "Is it this? Is it that? Is it this? Is it that?" You never find anything, you just fret for hours. The task is to go under what appears to be the question and seek a deep answer. Go under the surface, see what it conceals. When you start, you will often think you are too busy to sit with it. Or if you sit, you just munch, so why bother. This is different. You take one issue, and you decide to focus on it. You call a sense of clarity. You basically decide to leave the munch and ask the real question. Let me give you an example. I recently had a discussion with a friend who is trying to figure out some major life choices. Should she go to graduate school, what if she gets the new job she was interviewed for, should she stay with the old job, what if she has to move, how will she have enough money? Sound familiar? So I suggested this technique of going under the munching. I asked her what she wanted in her life in 5 years. I asked her to sit with that in stillness for maybe 30 minutes and let all the “stuff” quiet. This is going under the surface. Not the munching, but the real question. She did. And she discovered that she really, really wants to be an art therapist. You might imagine that all the munching faded away. Once she was clear, the choices were clear. She didn’t have to wait for step 7. And she realized that she had been munching for weeks and had never stopped to ask what was underneath. Once she was clear, she focused her energy, and in 3 days all those issues were settled. Concentrated focus is a mighty tool, but we rarely use it. We dissipate it with sugar or munching. This is a learned skill. We will talk more about it as we go. Practice the first piece. Warmly, Kathleen Thanks for reading!
